Long-Term Care

Group long term care coverage is designed specifically to cover the costs associated with extended long-term care. Long-term care is not one service, but a variety of services available to individuals who are unable to care for themselves. It could be assistance in the home with day-to-day activities, or special attention in a nursing home. Services may be needed on a temporary basis or on a permanent basis.

All benefits eligible employees may choose to enroll in the optional long-term care insurance program underwritten by CNA. Not only you but your spouse, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandparents-in-law are eligible to apply for coverage.

Your premium is based on a fixed daily benefit and on your age at the time your coverage begins. The younger you are when your coverage begins, the lower your premiums will be for the duration of your participation in the plan.

Employees enrolling within 31 days from their date of hire have guaranteed acceptance. After the initial 31 day period has expired, employees may make application during the annual open enrollment period which is held in October. At this time, employees will be required to submit evidence of good health to be accepted into the plan. Coverage for spouses, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandparents-in-law is always subject to CNA underwriting approval.
