Major
medical leave is earned by all employees who work one-half time or more,
except student employees, intermittent employees, temporary employees, and rehired retirees.
-
Leave is
earned after one month of continuous service, and accrues based on
employment status and the length of time you have been employed.
-
Major
medical leave may be used for illness or injury of an employee or member
of the employee’s immediate family.
|
Mississippi law requires that state employees use Personal Leave for
the first eight hours (or day) of absence due to illness; however,
nine-month faculty do not earn personal leave with pay and will take the
first eight hours of absence due to illness from their accrued major medical
leave.
