Critical Care Insurance

Critical care insurance is an optional benefit. It is supplemental, specific critical illness insurance offering affordable, flexible coverage for a variety of serious illnesses. Critical care pays a lump sum benefit upon diagnosis of a covered critical illness, including:

Heart attack Major organ transplant Permanent paralysis due to an accident
Stroke End-stage kidney (renal) failure Coronary artery bypass surgery

Coverage for cancer and carcinoma is available as an optional rider. Premiums for this critical care insurance will not increase with age. The policy is guaranteed renewable for life as long as premiums are paid and benefits have not been paid out. This coverage is portable, so you can keep your coverage if you change jobs or retire. Some health information is required to enroll. Also, coverage options are available for your spouse and children.

Coverage can be purchased within 31 days of your first day of employment, or during open enrollment each fall. The full cost of this optional coverage is paid by the employee. The HRM Benefits Counselor can provide rates and additional coverage details.
