Step 1 -
Screen Applicants - Support Staff |
-
The
Department of Human Resources Management (HRM) will be responsible for
screening for minimum qualifications for Support Staff (non-exempt)
positions using the Education-Work Experience Equivalency Chart for
Support Staff Positions below.
-
Once it has been determined that an applicant meets
the minimum qualifications for a position, the applicant's status will
be changed by HRM from "Under Review by HR" to "Under Review
by Manager", which will allow "hiring managers" and "guest users" to
view applicants. (HRM will screen applicants for minimum
qualifications within 24 hours of the closing date for the position.)

Interview and Reference Checking
Resources
"Search committees and all
administrators responsible for reviewing and approving hiring
recommendations should be particularly mindful of the need to
conduct appropriate and thorough reference checks of any recommended
job candidate. This should include, at a minimum, whenever possible,
direct contact with the immediate supervisor of the recommended
candidate in his or her previous place of employment. For many
executive, administrative, and professional positions, contacting
the next higher level of supervisor is also advisable."
