REQUESTING A JOB ACCOMMODATION UNDER
THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA)
Under the employment provisions (Title I) of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) the University is required to make every effort to provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities. Reasonable accommodation is a modification or adjustment to a job or the work environment that allows a person with a disabling condition to perform the essential job functions associated with a particular position.
Employees who have a qualified disability and require a job accommodation must notify the manager in writing of this need.
The communication to the manager must include the nature of the disability and accommodation(s) required.
A medical statement from the employee's physician and/or health care provider must be provided to substantiate the need and to provide guidance to the University as to the type of accommodation(s) required.
Requests for accommodation are confidential and the information will only be disclosed to those who have a need to know.
Please contact the Office of Diversity and Equity Programs, which is located in 223 McArthur Hall, P.O. Box 6199, phone 325-2493, during regular business hours, if you have questions or require additional information concerning this process.
